Dentures Or Denture Implants?

Losing teeth, whether it is due to age, injury or disease, can be very distressing. However, there are many great replacement options available including dentures and denture implants.

Which option is right for you depends on many factors and while you may be overwhelmed with considerations such as denture cost, convenience, and your oral health, it is important to visit your denturist and replace your teeth as quickly as possible to resume eating and talking normally and restore your natural smile.

What are Dentures?

Dentures are removable appliances that replace missing teeth as well as gum tissue. Full dentures replace all the teeth in the upper and/or lower jaw while partial dentures are used when some of the natural teeth still remain.

While complete dentures will rest on your gums, partial dentures are supported by metal clasps around existing teeth and both have a pink gum colored acrylic base that supports the denture teeth.

What are Denture Implants?

A denture implant is a titanium post that is inserted into the jawbone, replicating the root of a natural tooth.

Once completely fused with the jawbone, a carefully crafted replacement tooth is attached to the implant to support the denture. This can be used to replace single or many missing teeth.

For replacing multiple teeth, denture implants do have higher initial costs but better improvements in oral health-related quality of life compared to other tooth replacement options.
