It’s embedded in our culture to obsess over celebrities; they’re everywhere we look. It’s almost impossible to not hear about what Kim Kardashian is up to. Celebrities and their stories infiltrate every form of media. They’re basically North American royalty as far as some are concerned. We admire them for their talents, their fame, their fashion, their philanthropy, their beauty and let’s face it; we enjoy watching a lot of their crazy shenanigans spiral out of control. We put celebrities on this pedestal, but are we really so different? You'd be surprised how many celebrities have dealt with the same dental issues as common people. In fact, many have used some form of dentures during their lifetime. Here's a short list.
First, the lovely and youthful Emma Watson! Miss Watson was only a child when she landed her roles in the Harry Potter films. Therefore, she was still losing her baby teeth while filming. To ensure that her character’s appearance was consistent, she wore dentures to cover up her missing teeth.
Also to make our celebrity list is the legendary actor, Clark Gable. Gable’s need for dentures is quite different from the others on the list, as he suffered from a severe gum infection. Consequently, Gable needed dentures by the age of 32 to remedy the infection. What a brilliant invention dentures are!
Politicians are celebrities too! U.S. Vice President, Joe Biden has supposedly invested over $20,000 into his sparkling smile. I’m not sure what his teeth used to look like, but to have a smile as bright as his, I would say its money well spent.
Continuing on with politicians, last to make our list is the iconic former Prime Minister of The United Kingdom, Sir Winston Churchill. I am not certain of the exact reason for Churchill’s dentures, but I do know that he specifically asked that they be made so that he could continue speaking with his characteristic lisp. What a stand-up guy!
