Which Type of Denture Implant Works Best For You?

Considering denture implants to replace your missing teeth? Here is everything you need to know about this denture solution.

Are you missing any, or all, of your teeth? There’s no reason to worry! Denture solutions have come a long way and there are now a variety of tooth replacement options for you to choose from.

Denture implants can be used as an effective alternative to traditional dentures and are able to restore your smile beautifully. Implants can also be used to support full/partial dentures and bridges.

At Future Smiles Clinic, our team can help guide you through your individual choices and determine whether you are a suitable candidate for denture implants.

What is a Denture Implant?

While regular dentures rest on the gums, an implant-supported denture is supported by and attached to implants, providing a reliable and highly comfortable denture solution.

Although not all patients may be suitable candidates for denture implants, there is no denying the numerous and unique benefits of this denture solution including:

  • More natural look and feel than traditional dentures
  • Improved function (e.g. chewing and speaking is much easier)
  • Extremely comfortable and don’t result in sore spots
  • Prevents any future bone loss
  • No need for messy adhesives
  • Longer lifespan than full/partial dentures

Different Types of Denture Implants

If you are considering implants over traditional dentures, there are several different types available to meet your specific requirements. These include:

Snap-In Denture Implants

This system provides ‘snap-in’ denture stabilization so your dentures stay in place yet can still be removed for cleaning and care.

This denture solution tends to be more affordable than the non-removable denture implants and are ideal for many denture patients.

Screw-In Denture Implants

This implant-supported denture system is more permanent in nature (i.e. not removable by patient) and provides additional support and natural tooth functionality.

Solutions range from fixed screw-retained denture systems to higher-end screw-retained zirconia tooth replacements.

Single & Multiple Tooth Implants

There are a range of denture solutions where implants are used with a bridge or crown to replace one or more missing teeth.

This provides a very robust, permanent long-term solution to replace missing teeth.

Book a Denture Implant Consultation

While denture implants provide a great alternative to dentures or bridges, they are not the right denture solution for everyone. Before deciding on an implant-supported denture, it’s important to book a consultation with a qualified denturist as they will be able to help determine whether or not this is a safe and suitable option for you.

Dental implants are often NOT recommended for patients who:

  • Have inadequate bone in the area
  • Are smokers
  • Are taking certain medications such as blood thinners
  • Have any bite complications
  • Have periodontal disease

A good candidate for a dental implant should have good general health, healthy gums and enough bone in the jaw to securely hold the implant.
