Partial dentures in Calgary that keep the teeth you have.
Partial dentures replace one or several missing teeth while working with your remaining natural teeth. They are typically made from acrylic and a supporting framework that attaches to your natural teeth.

What is involved in getting a partial denture?
Getting a partial denture is relatively simple, but it may take several appointments to make sure it fits correctly and comfortably.
Dental impressions
An accurate impression and measurements of your mouth are taken and used to create your custom denture.
Construction
Your new teeth are constructed from your impressions. Try-in appointments may be needed to confirm shape, colour and fit.
Final fitting
Your denturist adjusts and places the partial denture for a natural, comfortable fit and explains how to care for it.
Understand pricing, coverage and financing before treatment.
Future Smiles offers free consultations, accepts major dental insurance including CDCP, NIHB and AISH, offers direct billing where available, and provides access to Medicard financing for eligible treatment.

Cast metal, flexible or acrylic partials?
Partial dentures can be made from different materials. Each has trade-offs in strength, comfort, appearance and how easily teeth can be added later.
| Type | Strengths | Things to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Cast metal partial | Thin, strong framework; very stable; long-lasting | Metal clasps may show on some teeth |
| Flexible partial (Valplast, FlexiLytes) | No metal clasps; lightweight; gum-coloured | Harder to add teeth to or reline later |
| Acrylic partial | Lower initial cost; easy to add teeth to; useful as a transitional option | Bulkier than a cast framework |

Partial denture questions, answered.
How long does it take to get partial dentures?
Most partial dentures take several appointments over a few weeks: a consultation and impressions, bite records, a try-in for eligible cases and delivery. Because Future Smiles has an in-house lab in Calgary, adjustments between steps can often be made without sending your denture away.
Will a partial denture damage my natural teeth?
A well-designed, well-fitting partial spreads chewing forces across your gums and remaining teeth. A loose or worn partial can put uneven pressure on natural teeth, which is why regular check-ups, adjustments and relines matter. Good daily cleaning around clasps also protects your teeth.
How long does it take to get used to a partial?
Many patients adjust to a new partial within a few weeks. Speech and chewing usually feel more natural as your tongue and cheeks get used to it. Sore spots are common at first and can be relieved with a quick adjustment at either Future Smiles clinic.
Can teeth be added to my partial later?
Often, yes. Acrylic and many cast metal partials can have a tooth added if you lose another natural tooth. Flexible partials are harder to modify. Your denturist will consider this when recommending a design.
Do I need a referral to see a denturist in Calgary?
No. You can contact Future Smiles directly to book a free consultation at our Coral Springs (NE) or Macleod Trail (SW) clinic. If your situation needs coordination with your dentist or another oral health provider, our team will discuss that with you.
Does insurance or CDCP cover this service?
Future Smiles accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), NIHB, AISH and major dental insurance plans, with direct billing where available. Coverage, eligibility and co-payments vary by plan, so our team reviews your expected patient portion with you before treatment begins. Medicard financing is also available for eligible treatment.
