Immediate dentures in Calgary, placed the day teeth are removed.
Immediate dentures are prepared before planned tooth extractions and placed after the teeth are removed, helping suitable patients avoid an initial period without teeth.
A planned transition while your mouth heals.
Prepared in advance
Your denturist plans the immediate denture before the extraction appointment so it can be ready for placement afterward.
Teeth during healing
For suitable patients, an immediate denture can help avoid going without teeth during the initial healing period.
Follow-up matters
Your gums and tissues change as they heal, so adjustments and a future reline or other fit changes may be needed.
What happens when immediate dentures are planned?
Immediate dentures require planning before the extraction appointment. Your individual sequence may vary, but the process generally includes these stages.
Consult before extractions
Meet with your denturist before the extraction date so your mouth, treatment needs and expectations can be assessed.
Plan the denture
Your immediate denture is prepared in advance so it can be ready when the planned teeth are removed.
Placement after extraction
For suitable patients, the immediate denture is placed after the planned extractions so you have teeth in place during early healing.
Adjust as you heal
Your gums and tissues change during healing. Follow-up adjustments and a future reline or other fit changes may be needed.
Understand pricing, coverage and financing before treatment.
Future Smiles offers free consultations, accepts major dental insurance including CDCP, NIHB and AISH, and provides access to Medicard financing for eligible treatment.
Made locally with follow-up care.
Future Smiles has an in-house denture laboratory and provides ongoing denture adjustments, relines and other care as your mouth changes.
Important to know

Questions patients often ask before extractions.
When are immediate dentures placed?
Immediate dentures are prepared before planned tooth extractions and, for suitable patients, are placed after the planned teeth are removed.
Do I need to see Future Smiles before my extraction appointment?
Yes. Planning needs to begin before the extraction date so your denturist can assess your needs and discuss whether an immediate denture may be suitable.
Will my immediate denture need adjustments?
Your gums and tissues change as they heal after extractions. Follow-up adjustments and a future reline or other fit changes may be needed as your mouth changes.
Does an immediate denture mean I do not have to go without teeth?
For suitable patients, an immediate denture can provide teeth during the initial healing period because it is prepared in advance and placed after the planned extractions.

Future Smiles has an in-house denture laboratory and provides immediate denture consultations and follow-up care from its Coral Springs NE and Macleod Trail SW Calgary locations.
Can I discuss pricing, insurance or financing before treatment?

Your immediate denture timeline
- Free consultation. We review your treatment plan, the teeth to be removed and your goals for appearance and comfort.
- Impressions and planning. Records are taken before your extractions so the denture can be made in advance in our Calgary lab.
- Extraction day. Your dentist or oral surgeon removes the teeth and the immediate denture is placed the same day.
- Healing adjustments. Your gums change shape as they heal, so follow-up adjustments and temporary relines keep the denture comfortable.
- Lasting fit. Once healing has settled, a permanent reline or a new denture restores a long-term fit.
More immediate denture questions.
How long do I wear an immediate denture?
An immediate denture is worn while your gums heal after extractions. As the tissue settles, it usually needs temporary relines and then a permanent reline or a new denture. Your denturist will plan the follow-up visits with you.
Do I need a referral to see a denturist in Calgary?
No. You can contact Future Smiles directly to book a free consultation at our Coral Springs (NE) or Macleod Trail (SW) clinic. If your situation needs coordination with your dentist or another oral health provider, our team will discuss that with you.
Does insurance or CDCP cover this service?
Future Smiles accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), NIHB, AISH and major dental insurance plans, with direct billing where available. Coverage, eligibility and co-payments vary by plan, so our team reviews your expected patient portion with you before treatment begins. Medicard financing is also available for eligible treatment.
