Why Denture Cost Shouldn't Be Your Main Concern

Worried about denture cost? Here’s why this shouldn’t necessarily be your number one concern.

For the majority of patients, denture cost is an important part of deciding which tooth replacement option is right for them.

There are many factors that can influence this decision including:

  • Denture material
  • Design
  • The number of teeth you need replaced
  • How the dentures will be secured

Whether you are looking for full/partial dentures or denture implants, at Future Smiles, we strive to provide quality, yet affordable, services from design to denture repairs to ensure that our patients never have to compromise on their dental health.

Why Denture Cost Shouldn’t Be Your Number One Concern

While low-cost dentures can seem like a bargain, they may end up costing you more in the long run. Not only will they require more frequent denture repairs, they can also negatively impact your oral and general health.

Hidden Costs of Cheap Dentures

1. Bone Loss

In order for your jawbone to maintain its form and strength, it requires the stimulation of tooth roots. Poor quality, low-cost dentures don’t provide the necessary pressure for your jaw, which means that it will eventually begin to recede.

This can have some serious consequences including:

  • Higher risk for jawbone fracture
  • Prematurely-aged appearance
  • Further tooth loss
  • Increased risk of gum and periodontal disease

Unlike partial/full dentures, denture implants very closely replicate the function of your natural teeth and provide constant stimulation to the jawbone, protecting against any future bone loss.

2. Lower Quality of Life

One of the biggest drawbacks to low-cost dentures is the significant impact they have on a patient’s quality of life. While they may come with lower short-term costs, cheap dentures can affect many areas of your life and make day-to-day activities very difficult.

Some of the health costs that come with low quality dentures include:

  • Constant discomfort and/or pain
  • Trouble sticking to a balanced and nutritional diet
  • Speech difficulties which can lead you to stop going out with your friends and/or family
  • Irritated or constantly sore gums

3. Frequent Denture Repairs/Replacements

While the initial cost of cheap dentures may provide some relief, it’s important to remember that the lifespan and durability of such replacement teeth will pose a financial challenge in the future.

Not only will cheap dentures require more frequent denture repairs, they will also need to be replaced more often, significantly raising your denture costs in the long run.
